The Association of German Engineers
The Association of German Engineers (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure, VDI) is one of the largest scientific and technical associations in Europe and has more than 150,000 members. Over a period of many years, VDI has successfully carried out activities at the national and international level, asserting its leading positions in the field of advanced technologies and scientific knowledge. VDI is an independent non-commercial organization, which represents the interests of its members in professional and public circles.
VDI is engaged in promoting young talents and supports future engineers. From the moment of inception, the organization has worked on implementing and accrediting educational programs for bachelors and masters degrees. VDI’s successful efforts in this area resulted in the establishment of the Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN). The Association of German Engineers cooperates with the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI) and is an active platform for exchanging expert opinions and know-how.
